2022 World Cup playoffs (African zone): Results from first leg fixtures

On Friday, the first leg of the five 2022 World Cup playoffs in the African zone, were played.

Morocco came from behind to hold Congo DR to a 1-1 draw in Kinshasa.

Wissa opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Mmaee levelled nine minutes after the break.

Islam Slimani netted the only goal as Algeria shocked Cameroon 1-0 in Yaounde.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw in Ghana and Egypt exacted a measure of revenge with a 1-0 win over Senegal in Cairo.

Tunisia beat 10-man Mali 1-0, thanks to an own goal from Moussa Sissako.

The second legs will be played in four days’ time.
