The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) temporarily lost the role of its Twitter account, @naptipnigeria.

The federal agency’s official handle was breached Monday night after an attack by hackers.

Several links directing the audience to YouTube videos of bitcoin-trading training were posted.

One of the tweets about cryptocurrency advertisement read: “Crypto holders, check this out!”.

NAPTIP has now regained control of the account and the tweets deleted. The incident was reported to Twitter.

Phishers usually target the social media accounts of prominent individuals and organizations to deceive members of the public.
