The Senator Representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Austin Akobundu says he is yet to receive the 200M worth of food palliative from the Federal Government.
Senator Akobundu made this known during his New Year Get-together with party leaders, stakeholders and members of Akobundu Youth Support Network (CAYSUN) at his Amuzu Oloko country home in Ikwuano Local Government Area explained that by the time he was inaugurated as a Senator on 15th November last year, the processes for the palliative had been completed.
Senator Akobundu who is the Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs however assured the people of Abia Central that he is pushing to get the share of the people of the Senatorial District adding that he will continue to fight for what belongs to his constituents as his representation is grassroot driven.
The Senator while thanking God for seeing him through the legal battles thanked the people of Abia Central Senatorial District for standing by him emphasizing that he is a Senator for everybody in his constituency irrespective of political party affiliation.
He further assured his constituents to expect projects that will positively touch their lives expressing optimism that his inputs in the 2024 budget will be used to assuage their sufferings.
In his remarks, the State PDP Chairman, Dr. Alwell Asiforo Okere represented by the State Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief Obinna Nwachukwu described Senator Akobundu as a seasoned administrator with capacity to effectively represent his people.
The event featured speeches from representatives of the women, youths and the six LGAs of Abia Central.
