Following the directive by the Rivers State Government for implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage as well as promotion for local government employees through the State Civil Service Commission, some local government areas have commenced the verification process.
It is a new dawn for local government workers in Rivers State following the commencement of the verification exercise which is a requirement for the long-awaited promotion that has been approved by Governor Sim Fubara. The process which was monitored in Port Harcourt Municipal, Ikwerre, and Tai Local Government Areas had a large turnout of workers.
The expectant workers described the verification as hitch-free while promising to give their best if promoted as a previous lack of motivation had been a major source of discouragement to the average worker at the third-tier government.
With the latest development, more local government areas are expected to follow suit in the coming days as workers across the 20 LGAs anxiously await to take part in the exercise.
