Abia Assembly Crisis Thickens Over Principal Officers Positions

0Shares

The crisis rocking the Abia State House of Assembly seems to get higher on daily basis at the floor of the House over the position of the Principal officers of the Assembly.

The crisis started again today at the House after the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa recognized Hon. Uchenna Okoro, a member representing Arochukwu State Constituency as the Majority leader of the House.

In a swift response, the member representing Obingwa East State Constituency Hon. Solomon Akpulonu raised a point of order and informed the Speaker that there is nothing like Majority Leader in the 8th Assembly and urged him to read the letter written to him by the Leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in the State.

CDA News gathered that members of the 8th Assembly elected under the platform of the PDP stood up and mandated the speaker to read the letter as submitted by the Leadership of the Party in the State.

Responding, the Speaker informed the PDO Lawmakers that the letter has been submitted and taken over by events and no one will tell him how to run the State Assembly.

The speaker then went further to suspend the plenary and left the floor of the House.

The 8th Abia State House of Assembly has been at war with itself for weeks now over the position of Principal officers of the House.
