Abia Speaker Pays Courtesy Call on Hrm Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, Diawa King of Umudiawa Ancient Kingdom

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party flagbearer for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency at the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji yesterday paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, Diawa King of Umudiawa Ancient Kingdom and the Chairman of Ohuhu Traditional Rulers Council.

Speaking during the visit, the Speaker said he was particularly delighted to be in the palace of a renowned king who is one of the most respected and decorated traditional rulers in the state.

He further described Ohuhu land as a special land and thanked them for the love and support given to him over the years.

Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji said he bore no grudge against any Ohuhu indigene because every pre-primary election issue has since been discarded from his memory and urged all to join hands together to move Ikwuano/Umuahia forward.

The Speaker promised that no clan in Ikwuano/Umuahia will be shortchanged as there will be even development in the nine clans of the area. He announced that the mini stadium attracted by him which is under construction in Williams Memorial Secondary School, Afugiri, will be named after the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria during the First Republic, Michael Iheonukara Okpara as a way of immortalizing him, a great son of Ohuhu land.

Responding, HRH Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu thanked the Speaker for the visit and extolled him as a worthy son who has redefined the approach and view to politics, saying he was extremely proud of his achievements over the years.

HRH Eze Ofoegbu hinted that the Ohuhu people believe in capacity which is why they have resolved to support the Speaker in his ambition to represent the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia at the Federal House of Representatives and assured him of their unwavering support.

On his part, HRH Eze Innocent Nwaigwe of Okaiuga Alike Autonomous Community and the Secretary of Ohuhu Traditional Rulers Council said Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has been outstanding since his inception as the Speaker hence the reason, after thorough consideration, the Ohuhu Traditional Rulers decided to adopt him as their sole candidate for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

He wished the Speaker well and prayed that his efforts be crowned with success.

Earlier in his speech, the Director-General of the Speaker’s campaign council, Pastor Emeka Inyamah had thanked the Traditional Ruler for his unflinching support to the Speaker.

He emphasized that the traditional institution is the closest to the grassroots and urged the respected kings present to guide their subordinates aright so they can make the right choices in the forthcoming general elections.

Giving the vote of thanks, a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly and a member of the Speaker’s campaign council, Rt Hon Max Ndukwe Adindu equally thanked the Traditional Rulers for their hospitality describing them as men of candor who are seasoned in the cultures of the people and have made a huge positive impact since their respective reigns.

He reiterated the need for a strong voice to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia at the Federal House of Representatives and thanked the Ohuhu Traditional Rulers present for adopting the Speaker as their sole candidate in the forthcoming general elections.
