Nigerians are still reacting to the outcome of the Osun State governorship election, where the incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was defeated by Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a reaction, the PDP senatorial candidate in Ogun Central, Olumide Aderinokun, said the victory recorded by Adeleke in spite of Oyetola’s power of incumbency, was an attestation to the fact that Nigerians will no longer vote for a governor that has failed them in his first term.
Aderinokun, while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta, noted that the people of Osun decided to end the government of Oyetola through the ballot, saying all sitting governors should be prepared for more surprises.
The Ogun PDP chieftain said “there are lots of lessons for every stakeholder to learn from the election, most especially in Ogun State because the people are fed up.
The message from the people of Osun State is very clear,”there is no room for failure after four years in government”.
He expressed optimism that the 2023 elections in Ogun State will go in favour of the PDP, saying “With PDP’s victory in Osun, I can assure you that Ogun State is next in line for the people’s mandate with the PDP”.
He congratulated Adeleke, describing his victory as a signal for the party’s imminent triumph in the 2023 general elections.
Aderinokun applauded the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the people for taking a bold step to defend their choice.
