Ajata N Igu Iri Iji Festival: King Larry Confers Chieftaincy Title on Diaspora Nigerian

The Ajata N Igu Autonomous Community in Ikwuano LGA, Abia State, came alive on Saturday, September 27, 2025, as it marked iLookts annual Iri Iji Thanksgiving with glamour and tradition.

The highlight of the event was the conferment of the prestigious title of Royal High Chief on Chief Ekenma Mummy Yellowe, a proud daughter of the community through her maternal lineage.

Traditional ruler HRM King Larry Ogbonnaya Agwu described the honour as recognition of her “exemplary leadership, unwavering strength, and steadfast commitment to the betterment of the community and humanity at large.”

For Chief Ekenma Mummy Yellowe, who holds the cultural position of Ada Ukwu, the honour is double — reflecting both her achievements and the Igbo tradition of valuing maternal roots.

The festival blended thanksgiving, cultural heritage, and community pride, leaving indelible memories for participants at home and in the diaspora.
