Akobundu Mourns Late KC Ugboaja, Says ‘An Amiable Politician Is Gone’

The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abia Central Senatorial District in 2023 general elections, Col Austin Akobundu rtd, has described the passing on of a former Commissioner for Works in Abia State and erstwhile Executive Chairman, Ikwuano Local government Council, Barr Kelvin Chima Ugboaja as a colossal loss.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday, Akobundu, a former Minister of State, Defence, observed that as a lawyer, KC was the people’s advocate, adding that as a politician, he displayed a rare gift of political sagacity with goodness of mind which certainly made him a lovable politician.

According to him, KC Ugboaja an administrator was a game changer and had the Midas touch that produced good results, even as the PDP Abia Senatorial hopeful lamented the sudden demise of this amiable politician.

It is with deep pain and grief that on behalf my family and the Austin Akobundu Campaign Council, I received the news of the sudden death of my brother, friend and compatriot, Barr Kelvin Ugboaja yesterday, July 9, 2022. KC Ugboaja, as all of us call him, was a man of peace who did whatever he chose to do with great conviction not minding whose ox is gored.

As a lawyer, KC was the people’s advocate and as a politician, he was easygoing and in fact displayed a rare gift of political sagacity with goodness of mind which certainly made him a lovable personality. KC Ugboaja as an administrator was a game changer and had the Midas touch that produced good results. In fact, this colossal loss of this personality is devastating indeed.

Certainly, Ikwuano, nay Abia State indigenes have lost a rare gem, an amiable politician, a wise counselor, a service-oriented politician and a man of many parts. When he was the Executive Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Council and later Commissioner for Works in Abia State, Barr KC Ugboaja reinvented hard work and performance as a service mantra and through that singsong, the people of Ikwuano and Abia State enjoyed some dividends of democracy.

On behalf my family and Austin Akobundu Campaign Council, I urge the Ugboaja Family particularly his wife and children to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude, bearing in mind that the privilege to stay alive lies entirely in the hands of the Almighty God.

I also appeal to them to continue to stay strong in the Lord, because our hope lies in the Lord, the Author and Finisher of our Faith”.
