The governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu (Ph.D), who I admire so much for his simplicity, inclusive leadership style, open door policy and who is always in close contact with his people, has displayed a high level of transparency in the management of state resources which is ideal for good governance. I commend him for that. The coming of Gov. Ikpeazu was filled with negativity, many never believed in him even some of his own people but right now, the story is different, he has surpassed their expectations. The goodwill, acceptance and support he enjoys from various sectors of the society have remained unbeatable in the state and have made some to wonder.

His prudent management of state resources is responsible for the provision of critical infrastructure, rural development, qualitative and affordable education, health care delivery, innovative and robust investment drive, agricultural revolution, peace and security and economic growth being witnessed in Abia State. He has shown himself to be a leader with high level of transparency in discharging his duties.

Gov. Ikpeazu’s investment in infrastructure has increased economic activities in the state. The peace and security existing in the state has remained one of the keys that enabled such growth. Notwithstanding the economic downturn biting hard across board, Gov. Ikpeazu has remained firm in changing the living conditions of Abians through his rapid infrastructural development and empowerment across the state.

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has remained a work man with a brand. Abians have come to appreciate this great sweeper and son of a teacher in his effort in making Abia the power house of SMEs in Nigeria. His strategic marketing of made-in-Aba products during every occasion is unbeatable.

He understands that SMEs are pivotal to the economic growth and development of the state that is why he was quick to provide the innovative marketing, financial and management skill, good and favourable policies for business to thrive in the state. The governor gave it the proper attention to help boost the state economy and increase its IGR.

The scorecard of the state with regard to the COVID-19 management and vaccination shows that Gov. Ikpeazu has made significant progress in the health sector. Abia is ranked one of the best in the country and first in the South-East in the management of the deadly virus and vaccination. For Gov. Ikpeazu, the life of every Abian is important.

The governor who has repeatedly pledged that his administration will be relentless in the pursuit for sustainable development and building a lasting foundation for the next generation, has vowed to complete ongoing or any project initiated by his administration.

There is need to encourage the Gov. Ikpeazu-led administration towards its drive to have a state we all can be proud of, a state every Abian will defend irrespective of political affiliations.
