One of the contenders for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2025 governorship election in Anambra, Paul Chukwuma, has emphasised the need for the state to align with the federal to fully benefit from the dividends of democracy.

Speaking at his Umuero country home over the weekend, Chukwuma criticized the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) administration, led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, for its failure to address the state’s pressing insecurity challenges.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Anambra governorship election for November 8, 2025, with party primaries set for March next year.

Chukwuma, who serves as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Benue State University and founder of Olivia University in Burundi, declared his readiness to tackle insecurity and restore safety to Anambra.

“The current security situation in Anambra state is a ” joke” and the APGA government saddled with the responsibility is still dancing “gwo gwo gwo ngwo’ with it.

“We will fight insecurity with food and employment, good salary, APC government in Anambra under my watch to address the root causes of insecurity.

“Again, the current minimum wage in the state is insufficient, the so-called minimum wage in the state is not sufficient to sustain life, these are some of the things that must be corrected” Chukwuma said

He maintained that fighting insecurity in Anambra state is not going to be a one man show, rather, a collective responsibility of all the stakeholders

But one thing is clear, we are not going to use any unorthodox method to fight the insecurity monster, rather, we are going to focus on a government based approach and the rule of law.

Issue of security is not a rocket science, you cannot achieve security by speaking too much grammar, grassroots government is neglected

“What this implies is that the current APGA administration has overlooked the importance of local governance in addressing security issues.

Chukwuma said if he gets the APC governorship ticket, which he said, the party faithful will want him to get, that his mental capacity to effectively govern Anambra State is not in doubt,” even you as a Journalist know it”
