Following the demise of Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne PDP gubernatorial candidate, on January 25, the party will utilize the provisions of the Electoral Act to conduct fresh primaries to produce a new governorship candidate in the state.

The Party has fixed February 4, 2023, for its fresh primary election.

Confirming this development in a Press Release endorsed by the Abia PDP Vice Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary, Hon Elder Abraham Amah, the fresh primary will hold on 4th February at the Umuahia Township Stadium in the state capital by 10 am.

The party is calling all interested aspirants to purchase the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at the Party’s national headquarters in Abuja starting from Friday, January 27 to Wednesday, February 1, 2023, and present themselves for screening at the same venue on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at11 am.

The aspirants were also requested to present themselves before the State Working Committee of the party in Umuahia on Friday, February 3, 2023.
