We all know what the job of a Legislator either at the State or national level, as the people representative entails: Making laws, moving motions, looking at petitions, screening of Executive nominee’s, carrying out oversight functions and so on and so forth. Apart from other defined vested constitutional powers of the House, most of his functions are geared towards protecting or projecting the interest of his or her constituency.
Today’s Honourable Members are expected to do more than representing the people, a lot of burden are placed on their shoulders to deliver more as they are seen to be closer home by the people.
It takes a true progressive to reach out to his people, understand their needs and assuage same; before his truly applauded as performing well.
It is easier to point out that a Legislator is not performing no matter the brilliancy he or she brings to the floor of the hallow chamber, without commensurately given back to his Constituency.
The ability to manage the dexterity of the House and the wellbeing of your constituency makes you a darling of the people you represent.
The 7th Abia State House of Assembly, is made up of ‘the People’s Darling’, who in one way or the other have gone beyond legislative performance in less than two years in the life span of the present House to showcase their love for the people; the Rt Hon Speaker of the House lead’s in this feat, even as the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Ifeanyi Uchendu, Majority Leader Hon Solomon Akpulonu, Hon Ginger Onwusibe, Hon Jerry Uzosike, Hon Stanley Nwabuisi to mention but a few, have shown their mark in their respective constituencies.
Robert Rivers said “Part of life is understanding that real change and progress comes with dedicated perseverance but also realizing that challenges, obstacles and roadblocks will appear from time to time”
It has taken dedicated perseverance to serve the people, through the positive progressive changes emanating from the State House of Assembly that has given it ‘The Best Legislative House in Abia state’ by the masses.
Achieving this, also came with challenges and obstacles that were overcome by the resounding resolve of the Members of the House to perform and deliver no matter the odds through it’s leadership led by Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, mnse.
They have gone beyond procrastination which characterizes most office holders to bring the dividend of democracy to the table, for the good of Abians.
The Abia State House of Assembly Honourable Members understands what Mark Thomas said that “Procrastination can be categorized as habit, and that habit, if continued repeatedly and turned into a life style, transforms into a bad habit that can pull us back from progress and delay our success”
In a hurry to succeed; the Honourable House Member’s have gone all out to proof and set a benchmark that representing the people is not only about Legislation but also looking into the welfare of its constituency by putting smile’s on the faces of if not all, but majority of the people.
The 7th Abia State House of Assembly deserves our support and understanding, as the House steadily but surely enacts legislation’s that will guarantee progressive development that continuously announces Abia State Positively to the World; in place.
