Blame Adamu Adamu and Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba for incessant strike in Nigerian Universities, I have my children in public universities – Chris Ngige Minister of Labour, They don’t feel ASUU strike.

The current Minister of Labour and Employment (Nigeria) Chris Nwabueze Ngige has charged Nigerians to hold the two serving Education ministers, Mallam Adamu Adamu who is currently serving as the Minister of Education, and Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba the current Minister of State for Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria responsible for the incessant strike in Nigerian Universities.

According to him, the two Education ministers are underperforming in their duties and have always shown a nonchalant shrug in addressing the endless Educational problems facing Nigeria since they became Ministers.

He, however, lamented the attitude of that the ‘bosses’ at the Federal Ministry of Education, who do not feel the ongoing university strike like him whose kids attend public universities in Nigeria.

Ngige, however, appealed to the striking lecturers to reconsider their action and opt for picketing to press home their demands.

As a conciliator, I have to make use of the labor instruments at my disposal. Some things are above me. I am not the Minister of Education. I cannot go to the education minister and dictate to him how to run his place. But I told ASUU that you should be bombarding them at the Federal Ministry of Education for this to be moved forward. There are many ways to do so. If you go to the labor act, there is something called picketing. You can picket. The strike is an ultimate thing. Picketing means that you can stay in the corridor, clapping or singing. Workers are permitted to do so. But I am tired that every time there is a disagreement, it is a strike.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Patience Onuobia, in a statement, on 12, April, quoted Ngige as saying he has been pushing to see that everything contained in the 2020 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the government and ASSU was implemented.
