1. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has banned alcoholic beverages produced in sachets less than 200ml. The agency said the five-year window given to the manufacturers of the products to stop producing the drinks in sachets and pet bottles which began in 2018 elapsed on January 31, 2024.

2. The naira strengthened at the official window on Monday, after the Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, reassured that the apex bank was making efforts to tackle the volatility of the currency. The local currency is appreciated by 1.09 per cent to close at 1,419.86/$ at the official forex window, according to data obtained from the FMDQ.

3. Nigeria’s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has assured that the hard times Nigerians face will soon end with the right policies of President Bola Tinubu. The president’s wife gave the assurance on Monday at the State House during a meeting with the governors’ wives on her pet project, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).

4. Residents of Minna in Niger State on Monday stormed some major roads in the state capital, protesting the high cost of living, lamenting that the development is sending many Nigerians to early graves.

5. Fiery Catholic Priest and founder of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu, AMEN, Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, has called on President Bola Tinubu to sit up and fulfil his election campaign promises of tackling insecurity and hardship in Nigeria. Has said the present administration has not lived up to the expectations of Nigerians following the escalating level of insecurity and hardship in Nigeria.

6. King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer and has begun treatment, Buckingham Palace said on Monday. The statement said the cancer was discovered during The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement.

7. Legendary poet and playwright, Jimi Solanke is dead. The veteran actor, and folk singer, died on Monday, February 5. Chief Solanke died while being rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

8. The Kogi State Police Command has launched a spirited manhunt for the kidnappers of the 14 Abuja-bound travellers in two different luxury buses abducted at Inyenle Eteke, Ogugu , Olalamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.

9. The Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, confirmed that its operatives had arrested 11 suspects over the cult clashes in different parts of Abeokuta, the state capital, on Sunday which claimed four lives.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this to newsmen on Monday

10. There are concerns about the availability of striker, Victor Osimhen for the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash against South Africa. According to a statement by the team on Monday, the Napoli striker is suffering from abdominal discomfort and has not traveled with the team to Bouaké, the city of Wednesday’s clash.
