Women are the epitome of strength, love, sacrifice, and courage. Without them, our society won’t be complete” —- Col. Austin Akobundu.

It was a colorful ceremony on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 as Abia Central hopeful, Col. Austin Akobundu rtd., celebrated with the Oloko Women during their Annual August Meeting held at Oloko Town Hall, Ahia Eke, Oloko.

Welcomed with jubilation which saturated the atmosphere during his arrival, Col. Austin Akobundu wasted no time in congratulating the women on their special occasion and thanked them for their contributions, especially to the growth and development of their community.

He described the Oloko women as “energetic and industrious”, stating that the development of any community is measured by the degree of cultural and social development of women and their effective contribution to the cultural construction of that community.

In his words, “It’s no secret that women have historically faced greater barriers than men when it comes to full participation in community growth. Across geographies and income levels, disparities between men and women persist in the form of pay gaps, uneven opportunities for advancement, and an unbalanced representation in important decision-making processes.”

“This grey area will be part of what we would harmonize in 2023. Ours would be an administration that will treat women with the utmost respect they deserve and deal with them as integrated humans, with full human rights, and secure their influential role in the formation and development of our communities. The reality of today’s world is that any leadership that has reached an illuminated stage of human awareness will care about women and make them participate in necessary aspects of community growth through their innate and God-given abilities.”

The Abia Central hopeful reiterated that when elected, attracting people-centric projects that will touch the lives of women will be at the front burner of his administration, citing the hall he facilitated as one out of his innumerable generosity to the people.

He, therefore, enjoined the women to remain steadfast as they push toward peace-building and rural community development. The Abia Central hopeful supported their ongoing project while assuring them of more to come.

Col. Austin Akobundu was further decorated by the women alongside other notable dignitaries in attendance.

Present at the occasion was; the Member representing Ikwuano State Constituency, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi, the Executive Chairman of Ikwuano, Chief Stephen Mpamugo, the Chief of staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Sunny Ochulor, Ugoeze Prof. Roseline Ndimele, the President General of Amizi, Mr. Uche Usuwa, the Ugochinyere Women, Igwebuike Youths, and other Pro-groups.
