As the build-up to the PDP primaries and 2023 general elections gather momentum, the immediate past National Organizing Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party and a major contender for the Abia Central Senatorial District, *Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd), says the party and the delegates form an extremely important segment of the electoral process.
Akobundu stated this when he met with the PDP Stakeholders and delegates in Umuahia North Local Government Area at the residence of the Stakeholders’ Chairman, Chief Charles Obioha Ogbonna, which is part of the consultation of all the six (6) Local Government Areas of Abia Central Senatorial District by the Col. Austin Akobundu Campaign Council led by Pastor Emeka Inyama.
Akobundu noted that if elected as Senator for Abia Central Senatorial District that he would hold the position in trust for the benefit of his constituents and appealed for the support of the Stakeholders and delegates in Umuahia North LGA.
Col. Akobundu served the Peoples Democratic Party in different capacities noted that as the immediate past National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, he initiated so many reforms in the Party according to him, part of the reforms while in office brought power to the people (the delegates) and the party at the local level adding as the former National Organizing Secretary of the Party that the Congresses he supervised produced the present party executives and delegates.
While thanking the immediate past Governor of the State and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator T.A. for his sincerity in announcing his retirement from active politics in 2023, Col. Akobundu explained further that he is driven by passion and the numerous achievements recorded by Senator T.A. Orji and appreciated the PDP Stakeholders and delegates in Umuahia North for being part of the successes God has granted him.
Contributing, the Director-General of Col. Austin Akobundu Campaign Council and Chairman of Abia Warriors Football Club, Pastor Emeka Inyama described the Stakeholders and the delegates as indispensable in the politics of Umuahia North while also describing Umuahia North Local Government as a key local government in Abia politics.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Umuahia North PDP Stakeholders Forum, Chief Charles Obioha Ogbonna was former Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Chief Godwin Esibike Okengwu, and the PDP Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Chief Miller Donatus Ogueri described Col. Akobundu as a man loved by God and assured him of their support.
