A federal high court hearing the offense of drug dealing against two senior police officers, Abba Kyari and Sunday Ubua has reserved its ruling on their bail application till March 28.

The trial judge, Emeka Nwite, adjourned for ruling after taking arguments from lawyers to the parties in the suit.

The two police officers and three of their colleagues arraigned along with them pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The others are Bawa James, an assistant superintendent of police; Simon Agirgba, an inspector; and John Nuhu, also an inspector.

The Cornet reports that two others, along whom the indicted police officers were first arraigned, have pleaded guilty. They are Chibuna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne.

The NDLEA prosecutors accused Kyari and the four IRT members of illicit dealing in 21.35kg of cocaine between January 19 and 25, 2022, thereby committing an offense contrary to and punishable under section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act.
