DSS Arrests Four Kidnap Suspects In Akwa Ibom

The Department of State Services (DSS), Akwa Ibom State Command, said it has apprehended four suspects involved in kidnapping innocent victims and terrorizing the state.

A statement by the command, on Friday, noted that the suspects were behind the abduction of Ayo Bambe the manager of “Me Lounge” a relaxation spot at Osongama Estate, Uyo, and two (2) others on 27th January 2024.

The statement listed the suspects to include Idris Abdullahi, Abel Ekong, Itoro Effiong, and Nsisong Effiong.

It explained that the quartet who have confessed to the crime are part of a notorious syndicate that has been terrorizing the state and masterminded several kidnap incidents in recent times.

Investigation by the command led to the arrest of Abdullahi, the driver of the syndicate in Port Harcourt, River State along with a Toyota Sienna vehicle used in the operation, on 16th February 2024. Ekong was apprehended at Otua Sega community of Ogbia LGA in Bayelsa State on 26th February 2024, while the duo of Itoro and Nsisong, two(2) siblings were arrested in their residence at Mbak Etoi in Uyo LGA, on 28th February 2024.

During the investigation, the four (4) suspects confessed their involvement in the kidnap of the three (3) victims at Me – lounge and other attacks across the state,” it added.

Meanwhile, the suspects, according to available information, will be arraigned in court after investigations while a manhunt for others at large.
