EX ABIA COMMISSIONER CALLS FOR THE EMERGENCE OF ORJI KALU AS SENATE PRESIDENT, DESCRIBES HIM AS A TRUE NATIONALIST
As the race for the next leadership of the 10th Nigeria Senate is gathering momentum, a former Commissioner for Environment, Solid Minerals and Cooperatives in Abia State, Hon. Barr. Stanley Ojigbo has made a passionate call for the emergence of the Senate Chief Whip, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu as the Senate President.
Hon. Barr. Ojigbo made the call while interacting with news men in Abuja on the ongoing national discourse on the zoning of the National Assembly leadership among the six geopolitical zones by the ruling All Progressive Alliance (APC). He described Chief Orji Uzor Kalu as a true nationalist, who has remained committed to the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria and would work for national cohesion, integration and oneness if so elected by his colleagues.
According to Hon. Barr. Ojigbo, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu stands tall among all others who have shown interest so far in occupying the number three position in the country. He explained that, Senator Kalu is from the South East; a major ethnic group in the country, is a ranking member of the Nigeria Senate, has a lot of experience in leadership both at executive and legislature having being a two term Governor of Abia State, member of the House of Representatives in the 1990s and now a returning Senator of the National Assembly. Ojigbo opined that being a Christian, Orji Kalu would bridge the gap of Muslim President and Vice President and having remained a rallying point of many political actors in all the divides of Nigeria with allies in every nook and cranny of Nigeria, Chief Kalu has acquitted himself well with leadership prowess to lead his colleagues in the Senate to achieve a better and progressive Nigeria.
The former Commissioner urged the incoming members of the 10th Senate to give their support to Senator Kalu, assuring that the Assembly would be in a competent hand under the leadership of the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial zone, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu as Senate President. He added that giving the Igbo man of South East extraction the opportunity to be the Senate President would go a long way to addressing the issues of marginalization that the Igbo have been crying over for a long time and enjoined the APC to officially micro zone the senate President seat to the South East for equity, fairness, justice and good conscience.
