Ex-Governor, Egwu Wins Ebonyi North Senatorial Primary Election

The former governor of Ebonyi State, Sam Egwu yesterday emerged winner in the Ebonyi North senatorial primary election.

Egwu is a two-term senator, representing Ebonyi North senatorial zone in the national assembly,was a former Minister for Education, during the late President Umaru Yar’adua’s administration and is now seeking re-election into the senate for the third term.

Senator Egwu was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Mr. Mudi Irenede who announced the Senate primary result.

The Ebonyi North Senatorial primary election in the state was the most peaceful, credible and devoid of rancour and crisis,as the total accredited voters were 163, while the number of votes cast for Senator Sam Egwu was 163 and invalid votes were zero.

The returning officer, Irenede said, ” Dr. Sam Egwu having scored the highest votes, I hereby declare him a winner for the Ebonyi North senatorial primary election”.

The Ebonyi North senate primary election, which took place at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s, secretariat, had the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, officials and the Party’s national electoral committee.

Senator Egwu said he was impressed by the transparent nature of the exercise and thanked the national and state working committee of the PDP, security agents and INEC for a job well done.

He commended the delegates and stakeholders for finding him worthy of their votes and vowed never to disappoint them at the Senate if he eventually emerges the winner in the general election.
