Five European clubs react as Senegal qualify for final

Five European clubs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Leicester City, Napoli and Watford have commended Senegal for qualifying for the final of the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

Senegal on Wednesday night defeated Burkina Faso 3-1 in the AFCON 2021 semi-final tie.

Second-half goals from Abdou Diallo, Idrissa Gueye and Sadio Mane ensured Senegal defeated Burkina Faso and qualified for the final.

Blati Toure did score for Burkina Faso in the 82 minutes of the encounter.

Reacting, Chelsea, in a tweet via their Twitter handle after the match, wrote: “@ChelseaFC Edou Mendy and @FootballSenegal are through to the #AFCON2021 final!”

Similarly, Liverpool wrote: “ A goal and an assist to help send #TeamSenegal through to the #AFCON2021 FINAL! “

Also, Napoli wrote: “@kkoulibaly26 and @FootballSenegal reach #AFCON2021 final.”

On their part, Watford tweeted: “Ismaïla Sarr came off the bench and assisted the final goal as #TeamSenegal secured a place in the #AFCON2021 final! Well played, Ismaïla.”

In the same vein, Leicester City tweeted: “ ! Papy Mendy helps guide Senegal to Sunday’s showpiece at #AFCON2021.”

Senegal will now play the winner between Cameroon and Egypt in the AFCON final.
