A former Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ohafia LGA, Chief Onwuka Ibe has joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu who is a Frontline Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Chief Ibe noted that his decision to join the ruling Party in the state (PDP) was born out of the need to support the Deputy Speaker whom he described as a true representative of his people.
Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu has clearly demonstrated that the interest of his people is his topmost priority with the arrays of projects and quality representation the people of Ohafia South Constituency has been enjoying under his watch.
He went on to note that the opposition party in Ohafia has huge respect for the Deputy Speaker who was once a member of the All Progressive Grand Alliance due to his style of leadership in politics.
In the words of Chief Onwuka Ibe, “When he was with us in APGA, he made the party proud, but when he left, we were all devastated but we have all come to term with the fact that his move was in the best interest of his people rather than his own selfish interest. He doubled his effort when he joined the PDP thereby proving most of us wrong.
I have come to join him so that we will achieve success together”.
He concluded by saying that he would do all that is within his power to ensure that the ambition of Rt Hon. Uchendu to represent the good people of Arochukwu and Ohafia at the Federal House will be realized.
He also Pledged support for the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and other PDP aspirants ahead of the 2023 General Election.
In his response, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu thanked Chief Ibe for his words of encouragement and support, noting that a political party is only a platform with which people vie for various elective positions and as such does not change those who has got the mind/willingness to deliver.
He also assured the former APGA chieftain of an equal playing ground and promised to carry him and other decampees of the party along in his programs and activities.
Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu was flanked by Councillors from Ohafia South when he recieved the new PDP member.
