Ginger Onwusibe should be in Kirirkiri Prison, not holding public office – Mpamugo blasts
Chief Stephen Mpamugo, the former Executive Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, has issued a scathing rebuke to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and urged him to cease his verbal attacks against Senator Akobundu. Describing Onwusibe’s actions as unbecoming of a public office holder, Chief Mpamugo called on him to focus on his legislative responsibilities instead of engaging in baseless insults.
Chief Mpamugo reminded Onwusibe that he had secured his mandate through judicial intervention, a fact that should have instilled in him humility and a commitment to serve diligently, rather than fostering a confrontational and reckless approach to politics. Instead of engaging in divisive rhetoric, Onwusibe should focus on his duties as a National Assembly member, working to meet the needs of his constituents.
Chief Mpamugo went further to unveil the troubling past of the lawmaker. He said, “It’s laughable and deeply ironic to hear Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, the member representing Isi Ala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, publicly saying that Senator Austin Akobundu, the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, stole the mandate through the judicial process. Ginger’s audacity to label others as criminals is staggering, given his well-documented history of fraud, scandals, and misconduct that dates back decades.
Not worthy was Ginger’s involvement in criminal activities when he found himself entangled in an examination malpractice scandal at the Law Faculty of Abia State University, which led to his suspension by the university authorities. When he was arrested, it was once again the intervention of powerful figures, including the Governor, that kept him out of jail. His pattern of skirting accountability while wreaking havoc on the integrity of public institutions is not a one-time occurrence but a persistent stain on his character.
Recently, Ginger’s name surfaced in yet another scandal involving Binance, as reported by The Punch newspaper. In his capacity as the House Committee Chairman on Financial Crimes, Ginger demanded a bribe from Binance officials after initiating an oversight function against the company. When the company raised the alarm, the National Security Adviser (NSA) stepped in, and Ginger is currently under investigation, having already provided his statement. His latest escapade only underscores the hypocrisy of a man who, consumed by greed and power, continues to tear down anything that threatens his ambitions.
Ginger is a frustrated rogue and fraudster, and till he dies, he can’t achieve what Senator Akobundu has achieved, so he should take his insult to his father.
Mpamugo continued, “What makes Ginger’s attacks on Senator Akobundu even more hypocritical is that at multiple occasions, he has begged Senator Akobundu, when he was the National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, to include his name on the PDP congress lists. The Distinguished Senator, ever gracious, obliged him on several occasions, underscoring the stark contrast in character between the two men.
While Akobundu’s decency and integrity have been consistent, Ginger has spent his political career chasing influence and evading accountability.
It is a sad reality that someone with Ginger Onwusibe’s tainted history not only holds public office but chairs a committee on financial crimes—an affront to the principles of integrity and public trust. Ginger Onwusibe, with his long record of deceit, greed, and misconduct, should not be holding public office, instead he should be in Kirikiri Prison. He absolutely has no moral ground to insult Senator Akobundu, a man of far superior character and accomplishments.
Until his last breath, Ginger Onwusibe should never again open his mouth to malign a man of Senator Akobundu’s standing. It is not just an insult to the Senator, but to every principle of decency and honor that Ginger so blatantly disregards.
Shame on a system that has enabled this farce to persist.” Chief Mpamugo concluded.
