1. Police in Abuja, yesterday, said there was no truth in the reports making the rounds that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is under the siege of terrorists. FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma said police, military and other security agencies were working hard to ensure the safety of residents.

2. The Ondo State government has returned 42 persons of Hausa extraction who recently relocated to the state from the north. The Commander of Amotekun Corps, Mr Adetunji Adeleye, said the men claimed they came for security training at a private firm in the state.

3. Former president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, yesterday, raised the alarm over a plot to attack him under the guise that he had confronted unknown attackers of public and private infrastructure in the South East. He alleged that the IPOB had concluded a plan to launch the attack.

4. Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, yesterday dismissed the Federal Government’s accusation that he called for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari because he was denied contracts. Mbaka said the allegation was childish.

5. Following the increased death toll caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Brazil and Turkey, the Federal Government, yesterday, barred travellers from the three countries from entering Nigeria. Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee (PSC), on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha stated this in Anuja on Sunday.

6. The Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday issued a warning to criminal elements threatening Nigeria’s unity and peaceful co-existence. Peter Afunanya, DSS spokesman made this known in a statement on Sunday.

7. Some armed hoodlums, yesterday, attacked the Abaomege Police Division in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The Ebonyi Commissioner for Internal Security, Mr Stanley Okoro-Emegha, confirmed the attack on Sunday.

8. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has ordered a total shut down of the Southeast, Abuja, Lagos State and the North on May 30. The sit-at-home aimed at remembering those killed during the Biafra civil war.

9. The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, yesterday, cautioned those clamouring for secession to jettison the idea, adding that the country had not fully recovered from the effect of the 1967 – 1970 civil war. Tinubu spoke at the Lagos House in Marina during a Ramadan Tafsir (lecture) organised by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

10. The Nigeria Customs Service has seized items worth N170.7 million, including table water at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B in Kaduna and Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command in Lagos. Comptroller Albashir Hamisu, made this known during a briefing yesterday.
