Goodwill message to all Abia Youths today been the international Youth day all over the world.
International Youth Day Celebration: NYCN Chairman felicitates Abia Youths
As we join our counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day, I, the Abia State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Comrd Smith O Sylvanus, felicitate with Abia Youths at home and abroad.
I thank God immensely for strengthening the Youth of Abia State and giving us the wisdom to live in harmony and good health despite the economic hardship and other prevailing circumstances that impede, as well as challenge our society and living.
Abia Youths under the umbrella of the National Youth Council of Nigeria under my leadership have been eagerly marking the International Youth Day which is annually globally celebrated on 12 of August, having been endorsed by the United Nations General Assembly and first celebrated on August 12, 2000.
We should be reminded that The Day promotes Youths of the Ideals of Peace, Mutual Respect, and Understanding among People. We should be our brother’s keeper, even as we promote peace and progress while helping the government to achieve its responsibilities to enhance social security and economic prosperity for our state.
Youths being the catalysts for societal peace, development, and progress, should use the celebration to reflect on how best to advance our careers in education, trade, skills, commerce, industry, entrepreneurship, and politics to contribute towards society development and edification.
As the Theme of the 2023 International Youth Day Celebration “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World”, implies, the Council hence encourages all Abia Youths to shift towards an environmentally, sustainable and climate-friendly world to critically respond to the global climate issues as to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The “Green Skills” among the Youth will make the “Green Transition” possible in Abia State if we avoid crime and violence and other anti-social conducts that bedevil our society and collective existence as a people.
I, therefore call on the federal and state governments to create an admissible environment for youths to be able to adequately engage in productive activities so that peace, security, and conviviality will be the order of the day in the state.
Once more, congratulations and happy International Youth Day celebration Abia Youths.
