Alex Otti And His Legal Team Afraid Of Chief Okey Ahiwe’s Petition, Struggles With Unnecessary Countless Preliminary Objections To Evade Been Heard On Substance!!

Upon setting up the various Election Tribunals, the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, announced that unnecessary delays and the use of technicalities will take a back seat in the 2023 Tribunals as constituted by him.

*Mr. Alex Chioma Otti with his legal team led by Ken Ahia SAN, has been making frantic efforts to use unavailable technical loopholes to truncate the matter challenging the victory of the Labour Party in the 2023 guber. election, even as there is a directive given to Tribunals to entertain matters based on substance and not discharged on technicalities.

*A certain Labour Party blogger has been all over the place with his sensational account of what transpired in the Abia State Governorship Tribunal yesterday on resumed pre-hearing. The narrative as contained in the blog is not only an account of a layman but an obvious ploy to deceive the public. The story is a misrepresentation of what actually happened in terms of legal procedure and a total departure from the facts of the matter.

*Assuming their disjointed story is anything to go by without conceding; the much and most extreme outcome would be striking out certain paragraphs from the petition and not a complete dismissal of the entire Petition, which has been their elusive secret prayers.

*Unbeknownst to the originator of the story making the rounds through the blog, the Petitioner’s petition must be heard and determined based on substance and not on the numerous preliminary Objections hoping one PO, would stall the process on technical terms.

*Mr. Alex Otti is praying the tribunal in his counter petition to discharge Chief Okey Ahiwe’s Petition on the strength that Chief Ahiwe has no Deputy/running mate. While the tribunal is still sitting, a Federal High Court in Umuahia, gave judgment on the matter, which has settled any argument concerning who is Chief Okey Ahiwe’s Deputy Governorship candidate.

*The fear of Mr. Alex Otti and his legal team against the water-tight petition challenging Otti’s victory, has been made more manifest in the way their blogger celebrated in his story, which is akin to selling the skin even before catching the bear. Their fervent hope is that Ahiwe’s Petition will be discharged on a technicality instead of being heard.

*It is worth noting that the tribunal is still at its pre-hearing stage to set the template for the process of a full hearing. The template will be on duration, number of witnesses, time allotted for cross-examination of each witness, and others.
