GOVERNOR IKPEAZU ATTENDS 2021 NYSC CORPS EMPLOYERS WORKSHOP CHARGES THEM TO EMPLOY USEFUL SKILLS
The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD today attended the 2021 NYSC Corps Employers Workshop at the Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia with the Theme: Optimizing the NYSC/Corps Employers Partnership for National Development in the Content of the New Normal, he charged them to employ useful skills in the Development of the new Normal.
Governor Ikpeazu represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Barr Charles Esonu Onyedikachi who also doubles as the Governing Council Chairman of the NYSC Board in the State, said to achieve the purpose of building a United Nation, we must encourage and develop common ties among the Nigerian youths with the promotion of National unity and development into our dynamic economy, is the core mandate of the service corps which today is the biggest youth-Mobilization agency in Africa.
Mrs Favour Udonte Deputy Director South East Area office Enugu representing the Director General, NYSC, Brigadier General S Ibrahim Assoc. Prof MTRCN, stated that Since the inception of the scheme, the NYSC Management/Corps Employers’ forum has enabled both parties to continually enhance their capacity for effective engagement of corps members. He reiterated their resolve in positioning young men and women on the National Service as change agents and key contributors to the development of the country. He officially declared the Workshop open and made clear emphasis on their collective roles towards sustaining the impact of the scheme in the face of the challenges thrown up by the COVID-19.
Earlier in his Welcome Address, The State Director of NYSC Mr Dennis Jingi, noted that the Workshop is an annual event used to arm stakeholders and corps members with the necessary tools to manage and utilize the creative potentials of the corps members through provision of adequate welfare packages.
The workshop featured Seminars, Talk Shows and display of our cultural heritage by Corps Members.
