The Abia State Ex-Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon.Prince Obinna Okey has Congratulated the ruling of the Appeal Court affirming the election of Senator Austin Okwudiri Akobundu of Abia Central Senatorial District.

CDA News recalls that the court, in a unanimous decision, Sack Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party.

Ruling on the appeal, the court affirmed and declared Akobundu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the February 25 National Assembly polls in Abia State.

Reacting, Hon.Prince Obinna Okey, in a statement issued said the judgment of the Appeal Court was proof that Senator Akobundu was truly elected by the people of Abia Central.

Hon.Okey noted that the victory is a testament to Senator Akobundu’s dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to the people of Abia Central.

The statement said: “This outcome has given credence to the Judiciary for the respect of the rule of law. I humbly appreciate the due diligence done by the judiciary in arriving at this conclusion.

This affirmation of the victory is a pointer that the judicial system in our country has evolved and can be trusted and relied upon.

The justices stood firm against every attempt to influence them. Some powerful forces even resorted to blackmail, intimidation, and a campaign of calumny, but that too didn’t work because today the judiciary has proven to be the last hope of the common man.

Congratulations to my master and Leader, May the Lord God protect, preserve, and direct you as you lead the people of Abia Central at the Senate.
