How embattled Speaker, 11 others were whisked away

Controversy has continued to trail the impeachment of the Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly, Abok Ayuba, as he and 11 other members of the House were whisked out of the Assembly Complex by security personnel on Monday.

The security operation was led by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, Commandant of NSCDC in the State and DSS operatives.

DAILY POST reports that the embattled Speaker and other members were matched into Police vehicles from the House to an undisclosed destination.

Those who were taken away by the security officers include the embattled Speaker, Nuhu Ayuba Abok, Minority Leader and member representing Barkin-Ladi constituency, Peter Gyendeng, Deputy Min,ority Leader and member representing Pankshin North, Philip DFormn; Dalyop Fom, member representing Jos South.

The six members of the House who masterminded the impeachment of the Abok led by the Majority Leader, Daniel Nanlong and Philip Dasun have agreed to resolve the issue.

CDA News online also gathered that Governor Lalong had intervened in the leadership tussle at the State Assembly and requested that both the embattled Speake,r, Abok Ayuba and the new one, Yakubu Sanda step aside from the position of the Speaker and allow the House to elect a new speaker.

Recall that Abok and his loyal members had in the early hours of Monday stormed the State House of Assembly Complex for plenary.

But trouble started when six lawmakers and the new Speaker invaded the chamber and requested Abok to vacate the seat of the Speaker.

Thugs invaded the House through the exit route and broke into the chamber which attracted youths in support of Abok leading to the destruction of the entrance door before the intervention of security personnel.

CDA News online reports that last Thursday, 8 members of the 24 member legislature, impeached Ayuba and replaced him with Yakubu Sanda (APC, Pengana Constituency).

As at the time of filing this report, most of the protesting youths have left the area, as they were tear-gassed by security operatives.
