Igbo Community Association Hamilton, Ontario Celebrate New Yam Festival

On Saturday , August 17, The New Yam Festival took place at Hamilton, Ontario Canada that spreads awareness of the Igbo cultural heritage.

The New Yam Festival, or Iri Ji as it is called in Igbo, is a cultural celebration held in August symbolizing the conclusion of the harvest season.

CDA News Correspondence report that Chief Enyioma Kanu who was one of the Igbo Leaders in Hamilton ,Ontario ushered in all the Chiefs and the celebration was great.

He stated that Igbo people are an ethnic group found in the southeast of the Nigeria. Its language is one of three major official languages of Nigeria with, approximately 44 million people speaking it and Iri ji Ndi Igbo cultural rites performed by the Igbo Community Association Hamilton, Ontario on her maiden edition is to showcase the love of our great cultural heritage.

Chief Enyioma Kanu is a member of the Igbo Community in Hamilton Ontario, that organized the New Yam Festival in order to promote our Igbo Cultural heritage.
