Igbo Youths Give Lagos 7-Day Ultimatum To Apologise Over Attack On Ndigbo

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Lagos State Government to apologise to southeast indigenes who were recently attacked in the state.

On Thursday,a mild drama ensued at Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, after some traders of Igbo extraction, who had shut down their shops to register for Permanent Voters Card, PVC, were reportedly attacked by hoodlums.

The incident has continued to general uproar from concerned Nigerians who alleged that some political actors are behind the attack, alleging that their aim is to disenfranchise the Igbos.

President General of COSEYL, Goodluck Ibem, warned against such attacks, saying the insult on Igbos residing in the state must stop in a statement credited to newsmen.

COSEYL also demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the assailants, saying the incident clearly indicated a security crisis in the state.

The statement reads partly, “We warn those thugs and their sponsors not to dare such attack again on Igbo traders or else they will meet a corresponding response. Nobody has the monopoly of violence. Enough of such insult on Ndigbo.

We demand an apology to Ndigbo within the next 7 days. Enough is enough!
