The Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Baba Ahmed Datti, has called on Nigerians to ignore politicians who use religion and tribal sentiments to cause hatred amongst the electorates.
Senator Datti stated this during an interview shortly after a town-hall meeting with leadership of the party in Minna, Niger state.
The meeting was attended by the Coalition of Obi/Datti Support Groups and aspirants for the various elective positions.
The former senator observed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) put together have ruled for 24 years with nothing to show, rather, the country is bedeviled with insecurity, corruption as well as other challenges.
The LP VP candidate noted, ”If the APC and the PDP are better after 24 years combined of governance, why are we still witnessing the challenges we are facing? Nigerians, it’s time to take back our country”.
Reacting to some Presidential candidates and religious leaders in Nigeria who are allegedly telling their members to vote along religious and tribal devides, he advised the people to ignore such persons to save the country from disintegration.
I urge you to ignore such people and vote for credibility, competence, character, equity, fairness and justice to save Nigeria from disintegration, Datti maintained.
He also appealed to the thousands of youths in the Nation to ensure they get their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and come out en masse to vote out politicians who have outlived their usefulness.
When politicians who have nothing to cover up their lies and lack of ideas to resolve the mileage of problems Nigeria is facing, they will look for anything to create confusion, religion and tribalism comes handy hence Nigerians should not fall for their antics,Datti insisted.
Indication earlier, has it that the Coalition of Support Groups for Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti in Niger state had a stakeholders meeting where plans to mobilize people to come out when the Presidential campaigns hit the state.
Speaking, the Niger state Coordinator of the Coalition of Support Groups for Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti, Habila Daniel Dikko noted the need for improved sensitization of the people to ensure Peter Obi emerges as President by 2023.
