Governor Okezie Ikpeazu led relevant officials of the Abia State Government to a scheduled review meeting with the officials of the World Bank in Nigeria led by the Bank’s Country Director, Shubham Chaudri.
The meeting held at the official residence of the Bank’s Country Director in Abuja.
The Honorable Commissioner for Works, Barrister Bob Chiedozie Ogu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Engr. Nwankwo and the State NEWMAP Coordinator, Engr. Izuchukwu Onwughara joined the Governor at the meeting.
The main kernel of the talks revolved around the Ndiegoro Intervention Projects under NEWMAP.
Review meetings such as this are held periodically to assess the level of work done on the project site and to ensure that the scope of work under the contract is followed strictly as a basis for the release of funds.
Release of funds under NEWMAP is done following strict regulations set by the World Bank.
Unknown to many people, while the funds for the projects under NEWMAP have been set aside in a designated account, such funds remain under the control of the World Bank and drawing from the account is done at intervals mostly to cover designated milestones in the contract.
