2023 ELECTION: Cross River

INEC Under Pressure To Tamper With Election Results – IPAC Alleges

0Shares

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Cross River State has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, not to tamper with ongoing collation of the presidential and National Assembly election results.

IPAC alleged that there was a purported order from powerful forces within the ruling party in the state which urged the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Gabriel Yomeri to suspend collation of results.

Report has it that in a statement signed by the state chairman, Anthony Bissong Attah and the secretary, Pastor Ntami Esege, early Sunday morning, they warned that “any attempt to alter, compromise or change the result of any polling unit, ward, constituency or senatorial district would be met with unprecedented resistance from Cross Riverians”.

We insist that collation of results should continue to the letter.

We further urge all our agents, collation officers and the general public to intensify their vigilance by mounting surveillance within and around all designated collation centres in the state.

According to IPAC, they claimed to be in possession of over 80% of the polling unit results from the 3,281 polling units across the state in their Situation Room.

Any attempt therefore to change any figure would be greeted with unaccustomed resistance from Cross Riverians, they declared.

They called on local, national and international observers to beam their searchlights around the electoral umpire to forestall any planned or forced compromise.
