Insecurity: PDP National Assembly Caucus says Buhari “absent from duty”

The Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the National Assembly on Tuesday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being “absent from duty”, and clearly showing inability to deal with NIGERIA’S security challenges.

The group led by the Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe said despite the increasing waves of killings in the country; Buhari is nowhere to be found; completely missing in action.

“We have not seen him. We have not heard from him despite the daily killings”, Abaribe said.

The group said the President cannot just fold his arms and wish that the problems will disappear; stressing that the time for him to act is now.

The Caucus said it has taken notice of the serial constitutional breaches under the ruling APC and will respond at the appropriate time using every constitutional means available to it including impeachment.

The Caucus called on the government at all levels to without further delay set up a proper security architecture either in form of state police or other means to rescue the situation.

The federal lawmakers faulted the economic strategy of the APC led government especially with regards to printing of money.

The Caucus said the current high inflation, devaluation of the country’s currency (Naira) as well as unemployment were directly linked to such faulty economic policies including going on endless borrowings that should be immediately reversed.
