RE: NSCEA: OPEN OFFICIAL STATEMENT

DENUNCIATION OF OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU (O.O.O)

INTERVIEW WITH BISHOP PROFESSOR MERCY FUNMILAYO ADESANYA-DAVIES – NSCEA

Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, Secretary, Elders’ Council, Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) shares a written interview with Kehinde Shonola at newsmeding.com on
“DENUNCIATION OF OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU (O.O.O) and the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS), Calabar, Cross Rivers State, Nigeria.” BCS has been accused by NSCEA of malicious mutilations of the Holy Bible and preaching of false blasphemous and heretical messages as well as making some claims of certain individuals and persons in a family being God the father, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit (Trinity.)

1. Bishop Prof, please who is Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies of Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA)?

I am the Secretary of Elders’ Council, Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) and also the Country President of United-Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC). I am currently a Professor of Applied linguistics at Department of English and Communication Arts, Faculty of Humanities, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Port Harcourt, Rivers.

2. Prof, how has your experience been in the University system as a Linguist and Communication scholar?

What an honor to reflect on my four-decade journey in the university system as a linguist and communication scholar! Thanks. My experience has been truly enriching, with numerous milestones and lessons.

I began my academic career with passion and idealism. As a young lecturer, I was driven to inspire students and contribute to the growth of linguistics and communication studies in Nigeria since the 80s.

As I progressed in 2000s-2010s in my career, I took on various roles as: departmental chair, faculty dean, and director of GNS centre. These positions allowed me to shape curriculum development, mentor junior colleagues, and foster interdisciplinary collaborations.

Subsequently, my research focus in linguistics, language, and communication led to numerous publications, conference presentations, and awards.

Teaching and mentorship have been a highlight of my career. I’ve supervised countless undergraduate and graduate students, many of whom have become accomplished professionals. Witnessing their growth and contributing to their intellectual development has been incredibly rewarding.

In conclusion, my four-decade journey in the university system has been a rewarding and enriching experience. What is most interesting about my career is my area of discipline. The fact that I teach language, linguistics and communications at the first, second and Ph.D levels, make me not to like when language is being manipulated and wrongly used. How can a sensible family for instance claim to be the ALMIGHTY GOD in succession and people are really being deceived, convinced, believing in them! In Linguistics, it’s classically semantically wrong to make the statement, “Green colourless ideas sleeping together furiously,” we were taught, so as such, a mortal man and family cannot be “THE ALMIGHTY GOD.”

3. Apart from being a professor, you also have the title of Bishop. Can you discuss a bit of this?

Actually, though born into Christian faith and a Baptist Church Deacon’s family, at Emmanuel Baptist church, Ilorin, Kwara State, I got born again in 1974 at the FCS/Scripture Union in my secondary school days. I joined Faith Liberation Hour, at Christian Youths Center, Ilorin now Living Faith Church; and Deeper Life Bible Fellowship at Ilorin, from their inceptions in early 80s. I served on FCS and NIFES executives in my secondary and university days.

Then, I got consecrated as a Bishop in 2017 to the Glory of God, and I am member of the IPMA Incorporated Worldwide College of Bishops and Ministers Network, USA, Africa, UK and Asia (aka The International Prophetic Missions/Ministerial Association (IPMA) College of Bishops, (Affiliate of Council of World Churches, USA). I am also the the Secretary of Elders Council, Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) and a Representative/Educational Consultant of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), by the special grace of God.

In 1989, as a pastor and defender of the faith of God in Christ, I co-founded Agape Bible Church, (Eagle’s Cathedral), aka Christian Excellence Ministries, now at Presidential Estate, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. At a point, I also ventured into politics, so I was the Presidential candidate of Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections.

4. What drove you to dabble into politics before? And will you still go into politics?

What drove me to foray into politics was my desire to offer selfless and exemplary leadership to Nigerians. I’d aimed to bring about the real change that Nigerians were yearning for as the first Nigerian female president. As the flag bearer and presidential candidate of the Mass Action Joint Alliance (MAJA), I was determined to provide a fresh perspective and alternative leadership to the country by forming a unity government.

With my background as a university don, I’d wanted to bring a unique set of skills and expertise with some Nigerian cream of the society to the table and take care of the Nigerian youths especially. It’s worthy of note that I got the endorsement of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) towards the presidency.

However, I’ll want to reserve my comments on that second question, God knowest.

5. You signed an open letter to Roland Olumba Olumba Obu, what are the duties of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA)? What is the objective of the organisation?

We represent the leadership of the body of Christ in Nigeria along with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). NSCEA is like angels on assignment, e.g, we deliberate at meetings, we speak to the government and powers that be, we had submitted Christian proposals for constitution review, we applied for establishment of Ecclesiastical Courts in Nigeria, we said no to RUGA, we said no to CAMA, we settle Churches and Ministers internal crises and scuffles, etc., always on the move, when we say it, it settles it. Only an empty barrel makes the loudest noise.

NSCEA is an engine room to Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), performing only very serious specialised, official duties and functions as we’re designed for, like the name is, as any other Supreme Council. We work hand in hand with CAN.

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) is a prominent organization in Nigeria, defending the faith and fostering unity, cooperation, and spiritual growth among Christian denominations and ecclesiastical bodies.

Generally, the Supreme Council typically refers to a high-level governing or advisory body within an organization, religion, or government. Some examples in the religious context include, Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA), representing Christian interests in Nigeria and Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) which represents Muslim interests in Nigeria. Specific functions of a Supreme Council usually include:

1. High-level decision-making authority
2. Representative membership
3. Strategic planning
4. Oversight and accountability
5. Collaborative leadership
6. Advisory role
7. Regulation
8. Coordination
9. Conflict resolution
10. Impacting and influencing the society.

As such, this Council been well registered in Nigeria over the years, has high power calibre leadership of Christian Bishop professors, Bishops, Professors, Doctors, other Professionals, etc,. I am just a servant on-board as Secretary of the Elders’ Council, by Nigerian Christian elders and leaders. NSCEA is an affiliate of African Association for Ecclesiastical Affairs (AAEA) which is an affiliate of International Association for Ecclesiastical Affairs (IAEA), worldwide.

6. Can you elaborate on the letter and the areas where Roland Olumba Olumba and BCS in Calabar engaged in blasphemous and heretic claims with deception?

Yes, we at Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) had cautioned Roland Olumba Olumba Obu and BCS of false claims and deception. They are not only heretical but blasphemous. They are in a state of apostasy. It’s so sad!

Heresy is, “a belief or opinion contrary to orthodox Christian doctrine and any belief, teaching or practice that explicitly undermines the gospel.” Heresies are “beliefs or teachings that deviate from established or orthodox doctrine, often considered contrary to the accepted teachings of a religion or faith.”

In Christianity, these include:
1. Arianism: Denies Jesus’ divinity or claims divinity.
2. Gnosticism: Emphasizes secret knowledge over faith.
3. Pelagianism: Rejects original sin and predestination.
4. Donatism: Questions validity of sacraments performed by unworthy clergy.
5. Monophysitism: Believes in single nature of Christ.

What is Blasphemy?
Blasphemy is the act of speaking or acting in a way that shows disrespect or contempt for God, sacred objects, or religious beliefs. It can also involve making false or irreverent claims about God or sacred things.

Blasphemy has been considered a serious offense in many cultures and religions throughout history. In some countries, blasphemy laws are still in place, making it a crime to commit blasphemy.

Examples of blasphemy include:
1. Claiming to be God, Christ, Holy Spirit, Trinity or having divine powers of your own.
2. Denying the existence of God or sacred beings.
3. Making fun of or mocking religious beliefs or practices.
4. Desecrating sacred objects or places of worship.
5. Using the name of God in vain or as a curse.
6. Acceptance of worship and reverence reserved only for the Almighty God and Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour alone.

What is Apostasy?
Apostasy is the act of abandoning or rejecting one’s faith, religion, or beliefs. It involves a deliberate and voluntary rejection of the principles, practices, and authority of a particular faith or religion.

Apostasy can take many forms, including:
1. Renouncing one’s faith: Publicly declaring that one no longer believes in or follows a particular faith or religion.
2. Rejecting core beliefs: Denying or rejecting fundamental teachings or principles of one’s faith.
3. Engaging in contradictory behavior: Engaging in practices or behaviors that are contrary to the teachings and principles of one’s faith.
4. Joining another faith: Converting to another faith or religion, often accompanied by a rejection of one’s previous faith.

Apostasy has been considered a serious offense in many cultures and religions throughout history. Example of apostasy for instance include a Christian claiming to be the Trinity Himself.

The teachings of BCS deviate from the fundamental beliefs and doctrines of Christianity and the Christian faith, contradicting the Holy Scriptures and the historic confessions of the faith. Their interpretations are also subjective to undermine the authority of Scripture, claiming to be God, Christ, Holy Spirit, Trinity and confusing the nature of our great salvation, using the Scriptures.

Notably, the core tenets of Christian faith include:
CORE DOCTRINES:
1. Trinity: One God in three persons – Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit.
2. Incarnation: Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine.
3. Salvation: Faith in Jesus Christ saves humanity from sin and its consequences.
4. Bible: Inspired, authoritative, and infallible scripture.
5. Creation: God created the universe and humanity.

The “Open Letter” therefore reads:
OPEN OFFICIAL STATEMENT

GROUNDS FOR DENUNCIATION
1. Blasphemous claims of divinity and self-proclaimed Holy Spirit incarnate status.

As leaders in the Nigerian Christian community at NSCEA, we cannot continue to tolerate and watch their three generations in a family, making claims to be Godhead. The father of Roland, Roland himself and his sons now fighting and struggling to be the Almighty God, Jesus Christ our Lord and the Holy Spirit and we take exception to it.

We at NSCEA remain committed to upholding the truth and unity of the Body of Christ and contend for the faith which was preciously handed over to us in Nigeria.” For instance, can anybody in Northern Nigeria claim to be Allah and Mohammad? Of course No! But we have been silent.

In fact, I also seize this opportunity to advise and admonish all other persons, groups and individuals involved in all manner of claims, “Cases of Hate Speeches and Cyber Harassments,” which is defined as, “An unsolicited, hostile repeated behaviour by a person through cyberspace with an intent to terrify, intimidate, humiliate, threaten, harass or stalk another person”; to henceforth restrain and desist from these crimes aimed at tarnishing the image of the Body of Christ and Christianity, and mind their own businesses as they create their social media contents. Allow the Christians to breathe, don’t suffocate us, okay! Moreover, with this, other custodians of the Gospel with strange fetishism and doctrinal practices should take note and be cautioned.

It is an undeniable and undisputable fact, that Christianity is a very peaceful religion and the Christian community in Nigeria are peace loving people who don’t wage wars for themselves or the ALMIGHTY GOD and His Christ. So “A word they say is enough for the wise and to be forewarned is to be forearmed because foolishness and stupidity have an expiry date.”

7. The Council said in the letter that Roland Olumba Olumba should retract those his ‘heretic’ teachings, what is the Council’s motivation?

The Council’s motivations include: Protecting doctrine and orthodoxy, maintaining unity among member churches as well as, preventing potential harm to congregants; and Roland Olumba would have to retract these his teachings to avoid conflicts within the entire Body of Christ and the use of the Holy Bible.

8. With the use of scriptures, what is your advice to the young Christians about different teachings coming from different Ministers and ministries?

To young Christians, beware of false claims of antichrist, saying they are God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit by navigating away from false these false teachings. Check the scriptures and know that God is not a man and cannot be man:
*Test all teachings against Scripture* (1 Thessalonians 5:21, 1 John 4:1)
1. Study the Bible diligently (2 Timothy 2:15)
2. Evaluate teachings in light of Scripture (Acts 17:11)
3. Be cautious of teachings that:
– Contradict core Christian doctrines (Galatians 1:8-9)
– Emphasize self over service (Philippians 2:3-4)
– Focus on prosperity over piety (1 Timothy 6:10)

*Seek wisdom and discernment* (James 1:5, Hebrews 5:14)
1. Pray for understanding (Psalm 119:130)
2. Consult trusted spiritual mentors (Proverbs 11:14)
3. Consider multiple perspectives (Proverbs 18:13)

*Unite on essentials, tolerate non-essentials* (Romans 14:1-4, Ephesians 4:13)
1. Prioritize unity (John 17:21-23)
2. Recognize diversity in non-essentials (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
3. Focus on Christ’s teachings (Matthew 28:19-20)

*Beware of false teachings* (Matthew 7:15-20, 2 Peter 2:1-3)
1. Watch for:
– False prophets (Matthew 24:24)
– Wolves in sheep’s clothing (Acts 20:29-30)
2. Be alert to:
– Manipulation (2 Corinthians 11:3)
– Deception (Ephesians 4:14)

*Recommended Scriptures*
1. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Scripture’s authority)
2. 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (diversity in unity)
3. Ephesians 4:11-16 (gifts for unity)
4. Matthew 28:19-20 (Great Commission)
5. Psalm 119:105 (Scripture’s guidance)

*Prayer*
Dear Lord, grant me wisdom to discern Your truth. Help me to test all teachings against Your Word and unite with fellow believers in love and humility. Amen. May you grow in wisdom, discernment, and faith, grounded in God’s Word.

9. What is your admonition for all the members of BCS?

I will just like them to know that O.O. OBU is neither God, nor Jesus Christ, nor Holy Spirit. He is just a human being, while I share a link of a testimony of one of their old repentant members with them.

“My Wasted Years In Olumba Olumba Obus Evil Brotherhood” https://www.modernghana.com/amp/news/495735/my-wasted-years-in-olumba-olumba-obus-evil-brotherhood.html

They should be aware that: GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT, IS NOT A HUMAN BEING!

Olumba Olumba Obu is NOT and CAN NEVER be God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit in any form of Christianity (Non-main stream Christianity).

The concept of the Trinity is a fundamental doctrine in Christianity, describing God as one being in three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. They are omnipotent and omniscient while man is just a creature.

Let us look at a discussion of each person of the Trinity, and their attributes as supported by scriptural references:

*GOD THE FATHER*
1. *Creator and Sovereign*: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
2. *Loving and Merciful*: “The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love” (Psalm 145:8).
3. *Holy and Just*: “Your righteousness is righteous, O God, and your judgments are just” (Psalm 119:137).

*GOD THE SON (JESUS CHRIST)*
1. *Fully God and Fully Human*: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1).
2. *Savior and Redeemer*: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
3. *King and Lord*: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

*GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT*
1. *Convictor and Teacher*: “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth” (John 16:13).
2. *Empowerer and Sanctifier*: “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8).
3. *Comforter and Helper*: “I will send another Helper to you, that he may be with you forever” (John 14:16).

*THE TRINITY’S UNITY AND INTERACTIONS*
1. *Co-Creation*: “In the beginning, God created… male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27), implying the Trinity’s involvement.
2. *Jesus’ Baptism*: “The Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him, and behold, a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased'” (Matthew 3:16-17).
3. *The Great Commission*: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

SCRIPTURAL REFERENCES:
1. *Genesis 1*: 1, 27
2. *Psalm 145*: 8, 119:137
3. *John 1*: 1, 3:16, 14:16, 16:13
4. *Hebrews 13*: 8
5. *Acts 1*: 8
6. *Matthew 3*: 16-17, 28:19

The Trinity is a complex and mysterious concept, that only God can reveal to man, yet it is a fundamental aspect of Christian theology. Understanding the distinct roles and relationships between God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit deepens our appreciation for the richness and diversity of God’s nature as beloved children of God and Christians.

Again, Olumba Olumba Obu is NOT God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Spirit in Christianity in any way.

The Holy Trinity is a fundamental doctrine in Christianity, consisting of:
1. *God the Father (Jehovah, Yahweh)*: Creator, Sovereign, and Almighty (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 145:8)
2. *God the Son (Jesus Christ)*: Savior, Redeemer, and Messiah (John 1:1, John 3:16)
3. *God the Holy Spirit*: Convictor, Teacher, and Empowerer (John 16:13, Acts 1:8).
Those Scriptural references affirm the uniqueness and distinctness of each person of the Trinity.

Olumba Olumba Obu is not mentioned in the Bible at all and he is not recognized by Christianity as any of the member of the Trinity or anything!

Some scriptural references that further support the uniqueness of the Trinity include:
1. *Deuteronomy 6*: 4: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”
2. *Matthew 28*: 19: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
3. *1 John 5*: 7: “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

Christianity affirms the Trinity as a fundamental doctrine, and any claims or teachings that contradict or modify this doctrine are considered, heretical and blasphemous, profane and sacrilege. It only signifies irreverence, disrespect, imperiousness and ungodliness in the sight of the ALMIGHTY GOD.

In fact, OLUMBA OLUMBA OBU WAS QUOTED TO HAVE SAID, IN HIS OLD AGE, JUST BEFORE HE DIED IN 2003 IN A CONFESSION:

“I AM NOT JESUS OOO
I AM NOT NOT GOD OOO …
I NO BE GOD, I NO BE JESUS, I NO BE CHRIST, I NO BE PROPHET, I AM OOO OBU …
I ONLY WANT EVERYBODY TO LIVE IN THE SAME LEVEL AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER, THAT IS MY MISSION!”

10. Can you still tell us more about CAN and NSCEA?

Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs, (NSCEA) is as the name is, it’s simply a Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs in Nigeria, and a subsidiary of Africa Association for Ecclesiastical Affairs (AAEA).

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has five blocs, specialised Departments and other Affiliate Organizations of CAN. I for instance, I am a resource person to the CAN Education Department and CAN Media and Communications Department.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is the apex umbrella body of churches in Nigeria, comprising various bodies and blocs, representing different Christian denominations and organizations.

The blocs include:

5. Orthodox Bloc (led by the Orthodox Church in Nigeria).

The Denominational Groups are :
1. Catholic Church
2. Anglican Church
3. Methodist Church
4. Baptist Church
5. Presbyterian Church
6. Lutheran Church
7. Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA)

NSCEA works within all as the name is, and no individual can pocket the Body of Christ in Nigeria, no matter whom you are or no matter how much you think you know. These bodies work together to promote unity, peace, and Christian values in Nigeria. I am a servant there.

11. You reached out and sent him, Roland Olumba Olumba and the entire BCS an open letter, mails and emails? Then what happened next?

Yes, but NSCEA is yet to receive their response. He and his brotherhood need to know that God is not a man and their claims are sacrilegious. In various religious traditions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and others, the Almighty God is often described as having the following attributes, which are non-human:

*Divine Attributes*
1. *Omnipotence*: All-powerful, able to do all things.
2. *Omniscience*: All-knowing, having complete knowledge of all things.
3. *Omnipresence*: Present everywhere, having no physical boundaries.
4. *Eternal*: Existing outside of time, having no beginning or end.
5. *Immutable*: Unchanging, remaining the same forever.
6. *Holy*: Separate from sin, perfectly righteous and just.
7. *Just*: Fair, righteous, and impartial in all judgments.
8. *Merciful*: Showing compassion, forgiveness, and kindness.
9. *Gracious*: Bestowing favor, kindness, and generosity.
10. *Sovereign*: Having supreme authority, power, and control.

*Moral Attributes*
1. *Righteous*: Always acting in accordance with moral law.
2. *Good*: Possessing perfect moral character, being the embodiment of goodness.
3. *Loving*: Demonstrating unconditional love, care, and concern.
4. *Faithful*: Remaining loyal, trustworthy, and committed to promises.

*Relational Attributes*
1. *Personal*: Having a personal relationship with individuals, being relatable.
2. *Relational*: Desiring and initiating relationships with humanity.
3. *Trinitarian*: Existing as one God in three distinct persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) in Christian theology.

These attributes are not exhaustive, but they represent some of the most commonly accepted characteristics of the Almighty God across various religious traditions.

12. Your closing remarks Bishop Professor?

God is not a mortal MAN!!! Olumba Olumba Obu cannot be GOD the Father, in his generation before his death in 2003, then Roland Olumba Olumba Obu installed as Jesus Christ, his son by him and now they are contending and fighting in their third generation for who should be GOD ALMIGHTY next, as Roland is in the hospital in UK. This is a kind of madness and delusion. To me, sincerely speaking, it’s like a psychiatric case. It was therefore nice to read that at his old age Olumba Olumba Obu himself actually denied all his initial proclamations in a VIRAL VIDEO saying:

“I AM NOT JESUS OOO
I AM NOT NOT GOD OOO …
I NO BE GOD, I NO BE JESUS, I NO BE CHRIST, I NO BE PROPHET, I AM OOO OBU … I JUST WANT EVERYBODY TO LIVE IN THE SAME LEVEL AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER, THAT IS MY MISSION!”
Could it be that they have not watched that video?!

To conclude,
OLUMBA OBU IS AN ORDINARY MAN, WITH WIFE, AND BOTH MALE AND FEMALE CHILDREN…. HE NEEDS NOT BE DEIFIED NOR HIS GENERATIONS INSTALLED AS GOD (LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS) AND DIVINITY, THE CONCEPT IS ALL RIDICULOUS!!!
