On the 13th of March, 2021, history was made in IKWUANO as over 250 women from the 10 wards in IKWUANO were successfully innaugurated into the Ugochinyere women of Ikwuano.
The event, which was hosted by Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi is aimed at enhancing women inclusiveness in governance and other women empowerment projects.
In attendance were a host of dignitaries from Ikwuano and beyond. The wife of the Chairman, Ikwuano LGA – Lolo Ijeoma MPAMUGO, the wife of the Chairman, Umuahia South LGA, Mrs. Esther Uchechi Benson, former LGA Chairman and foremost Women Leader in IKWUANO, Chief Mrs. Ezinne Ngozi Orji, Former Commissioner of Women Affairs , Abia State – Ugoeze Kate Onyemaechi, PDP Chairman of IKWUANO LGA – Deacon Obioma Igwe and his Deputy High Chief Uche Okeugo. Others were, the leader of the Ikwuano legislative council, Hon. Obinna Agaodi together with other Ward councillors. Many other PDP heavyweights were also in attendance; Chief Emeka Usuwa, Chief Ikechi Arungwa and other highly reputable personalities.
The Host and convener of this auspicious occasion, Hon. Stanley Nwabuisi unfolded to all present the objectives of the Initiative. He stated that the main aim was to re-orient them to be cognizant of the fact that the world of governance is not for men alone, but for all genders. In his own words he stated that in many cases, “the time has come to show that what a man can do, a woman can do better”.
Besides other official address and speeches, the prolific performer presented wrappers to all 250 women present. He also gave cash donations to every woman present before treating them to a sumptous meal to the joy of all present.
The overjoyed women celebrated the recognition of Ikwuano women strategically or coincidentally scheduled on the eve of mothering Sunday. Speaking through their coordinator, Mrs Chioma Ibelachi, They affirmed that this was first of it’s kind in the history of representation in IKWUANO.
The deputy coordinator, Hon Precious Ajuzie who also doubles as the majority leader of the IKWUANO legislative council also pledged that the Ugochinyere group would endeavour to take the good news of the event to their various wards and communities.
Once more, Hon Stanley Nwabuisi leaves his marks in the hearts of Ikwuano Women with indelible representation whose merits will surely remain imprinted in the sands of time.
