1. Foreign guests and other dignitaries have started arriving at Abuja ahead of the inauguration of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who takes over as Nigeria’s President on Monday. Officials at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed on Saturday that the authority received a memo from the Federal Government on the expected arrival of presidents and other VIPs.

2. The University of Abuja has rusticated two final-year students for allegedly inciting their colleagues over a recent hike in tuition fees by the management of the institution. The university accused the students, Cyprian Igwe and Olalekan Oladeru, of circulating a WhatsApp group message inviting other students for a meeting over the fee hike.

3. The Plateau State Baptist Conference on Saturday expressed shock over the absence of security personnel in communities that have been attacked and abandoned by the survivors who fled their homes. The conference noted that the poor security situation had encouraged the attackers to return to steal valuables belonging to the survivors who had fled the communities.

4. The Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar III, Sa’adu Abubakar has told the President-elect Bola Tinubu not to occupy his mind with the thought of winning the next election, but on how to first develop the country and the next generation. The Sultan remarked Abuja on Saturday.

5. The Court of Appeal in Kano, Saturday, suspended the judgment of a Federal High Court that invalidated the primaries that produced Alex Otti and other Labour Party (LPremarkedia State. The decision was made on Saturday by Justice Mbaba, who also granted Alex Otti’s application to appeal as an interested party.

6. The Senate at an emergency session on Saturday, approved a seven-month extension in the implementation of the N819 billion 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Act. The Senate said the extension of time of implementation till December 31, 2023, became necessary to enable seven-nongovernment funding of the budget, which is meanN819 billion in critical infrastructure destroyed by the 2022 flood episode.
