Good Morning Readers! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, said the Federal Government of Nigeria has saved N1tn within two months since the removal of petrol subsidy. Tinubu said the money that would have been otherwise squandered by those he called “smugglers and fraudsters” will now be channeled into intervention programmes targeting families nationwide.

2. Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that President Bola Tinubu will not regret nominating him as a minister in his cabinet. Wike made this known while fielding questions at the National Assembly during the ministerial screening on Monday.

3. The organised labour, on Monday, maintained its stand to proceed with its planned protest over the removal of petroleum subsidy. The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, spoke with State House reporters after another round of meeting of the Presidential Steering Committee on Palliatives at the presidential villa, Abuja.

4. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ajuri Ngelale as Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity. Ngelale, who was Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs in the Presidency in the immediate past government, worked in the office of ex-Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo.

5. President Bola Tinubu has approved provision of buses to the students’ bodies of all universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country. Dele Alake, Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications & Strategy, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

6. The number of state governments that have unveiled palliatives for their citizens rose yesterday with Lagos, Yobe and Bauchi joining the list. The three states plan to beef up their bus fleets, reduce the cost of transport fares and distribution of relief materials.

7. The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 110 people over the looting of government and private warehouses and stores in Yola on Sunday. The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said in a message to newsmen on Monday that the 110 suspects have been charged to court.

8. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Monday, said salaries of members of the National Assembly were not enough to take care of demands from their constituents. Akpabio said with the volume of requests from various constituents represented in the National Assembly, lawmakers’ earnings were too inadequate to cater for those requests.

9. National Leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has said his party would win the Imo State governorship election, slated November 11. Kwankwaso spoke on Monday when the governorship candidate of NNPP, Uche Ben Odunzeh and his deputy, Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel, briefed him in Abuja on the progress made so far.

10. Justice Adenike Akinpelu of the Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Monday convicted three students for conspiring to gang-rape a cousin of one of them.
