NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA SOUTHEAST ZONE HELDS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING
The National Youth Council of Nigeria South East Zone over the Weekend held its Zonal Management Committee Meeting in Enugu, Enugu State Capital, the Meeting which took place at GraceCut Hotel Market Garden Estate and was presided over by the Vice President and Chairman of the Zone Amb. Sir. Smart Uwakwe KSJI,
The meeting had in attendance Serving National Officers, Serving State Chairmen, Former National Officers, Former State Chairmen as well as Heads of Voluntary Youth Organizations. Others in attendance were those who hold one position or the other in the State and Local Government Officers as well as Heads of Directorates who stood in as Observers.
The meeting which lasted for almost 11hrs made far-reaching decisions for the smooth running of the Council in the Zone and the good of the Teaming Young People of South East.
Highpoints of the Meeting were the signing of a Partnership Agreement with the UN-SDG Youth Office Nigeria on the empowerment of 6000 Young People of the South East and the inauguration of a 15 Man Management Committee Comprising 8 nominees from the NYCN and 7 from the UN-SDG Youth Office.
In his remarks, the Vice President of the Council Amb. Uwakwe stated that the program will in no small measure provide an opportunity for the exchange of ideas and enhance collaboration in Youth Development, he further described the partnership as Symbolic adding that it will help reduce unemployment and lift so many youths out of Poverty.
On his part, the Country/African Regional Representative of the UN-SDG Youth Office international *Amb. Uzoh Ifeanyi* applauded the Vice President and the entire members of the South East Zonal Executive Committee for embracing the Partnership, he assured them that the UN-SDG Youth Office will do all within her reach to ensure that the program is driven well.
Speaking earlier, the UNICEF Youth Country Rep, Amb. Ifeanyi Oradu, who also took time to demonstrate one out of the 30 Goals of the SDG and conferred on the Vice President, Deputy National President, the Five NYCN South East State Chairmen, and the Council Zonal Director on Media as UNICEF Ambassadors on the Campaign against Female Genital Mutilation.
Other Speakers during the Signing applauded the program and urged the two parties to ensure the full realization of the Program.
