Willie Obiano, the immediate past governor of Anambra State, has been granted administrative bail by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa disclosed this on Monday. He also dispelled the allegation that Obiano’s arrest was politically motivated.
“Nothing political about the arrest of the former Anambra State Governor, Wille Obiano.
He has been granted bail,” said Bawa to journalists at the 5th Annual General Assembly meeting of the Network of National Anti-Corruption Institutions in West Africa, held in Abuja.
The anti-graft agency is investigating Obiano for alleged N42 billion fraud.
He was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State while attempting to leave for the United States last Thursday.
