The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. (Dr.) Gift Worlu, has encouraged council staff to embrace savings and investments as a pathway to financial security and sustainable living.
Speaking at an interactive session at the Council Secretariat, Rumuodomaya, organized in partnership with a cooperative society, Dr. Worlu emphasized financial discipline and long-term planning. He said cooperative platforms provide staff with opportunities to save, access loans, and secure insurance benefits for their families’ future.
“Preparation must precede opportunity. A cooperative society provides both savings and insurance cover, which can secure the future of your children,” the Chairman said.
Guest speaker, Mr. Amadine Kouakou, CEO of Akilaah, an online cooperative from Côte d’Ivoire, outlined benefits for members including access to loans and annual returns of up to 25 percent.
Dr. Worlu added that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, empowerment, and sustainable development.
