Ogun threatens to impound vehicles parked on road Side

Ogun State Government has threatened to impound vehicles parked indiscriminately along the Sagamu Interchange-Abeokuta highway.

This was contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin, who said the enforcement was with immediate effect.

While saying the ban on roadside parking on the highway was an existing road traffic laws, the government warned that, “henceforth, no vehicle will be allowed to park on the shoulder or lay-by on that express road.”

According to Somorin, the action had become expedient to reduce incessant cases of avoidable accidents along the highway.

Consequently, the relevant agencies have been empowered to impound all affected vehicles parked by the shoulders of the expressway and arrest defaulters,” Somorin announced.

He charged owners of articulated vehicles parked on both sides of the road to remove them immediately to avoid impoundment and payment of fines.
