Mascot Kalu Wins APP Guber Ticket In Abia State

Mascot Kalu has won the Abia governorship ticket of the Action Peoples Party (APP).

His victory came weeks after he dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He is the younger brother of former Governor and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Kalu.

Mascot had served as the Chief of Staff to former Governor, Theodore Orji.

He was returned unopposed at the APP primary election held in Umuahia, the state capital, on Tuesday.

Mascot was declared winner by a voice vote after his opponent, Ndem Chukwu, stepped down.

In his remarks, the standard bearer assured that he was prepared to rebuild the state and reposition it for economic growth and development.

In 2020, he lost the House of Representatives by-election for Aba North and South Federal Constituency.

Mascot contested for the seat under the APC platform.
