PRESIDENT BUHARI DOESN’T NEED TO TRANSMIT POWER TO OSIBANJO – PRESIDENCY

As President Buhari departed Nigeria for the UK on Tuesday, March 30 for his medical checkup, the Presidency has said that he doesn’t need to transmit power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Some Nigerians including Dino Melaye had earlier in the day called on the President to transmit power to Osinbajo since he will be out of the country till the second week of April.

While appearing on Channels TV this night March 30, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the President doesn’t need to hand over power to Osinbajo.

When asked if the President had handed over power to Osinbajo, Garba said;

“He (Buhari) will continue from wherever he is.

The law requires that the President is going to be absent in the country for 21 days and more, then that transmission is warranted. In this particular instance, it is not warranted.” he said

Garba said that there is no emergency in Buhari’s medical trip and it is just a routine check-up with his doctor whom he has known for over 30 years.
