Prof.Uchenna Ikonne, Meets Bende PDP Stakeholders, Delegates, Promise to Mechanize Agriculture and Enhance Food Production.

A frontline governorship aspirant of the people’s Democratic party, (PDP) in the forthcoming general Election in Abia state, Prof Eleazar Uche Ikonne, has promised to introduce mechanized Agriculture so as to enhance food production in Abia state if elected governor.

Prof. Ikonne, who was addressing the delegates and stakeholders of Bende LGA during his LGA consultation tour promised to make agriculture a major revenue earner for the state.

The Professor of optometry and former Rector of Abia state Polytechnic who recently served out his term as the Vice Chancelor of Abia state university Uturu said, “I am here to serve and build, not to find faults or engage in political altercations, “I am not your conventional politician, I have a lot of experience, I have worked with the elders and also the youths and I understand every department of the society”

Prof. Ikonne, Meets With Bende PDP Stakeholders, Delegates, Promise to Mechanize Agriculture and Enhance Food Production.

I presented myself to serve not because I am power hungry but because it’s a call to serve and build Abia, a close political observation across the country shows that it has become the current trend in Nigeria of today, people are electing technocrats to serve as governors because of their capacity, intergrity and track record of performance, examples abound in states like Bornu and Anambra with Profs. Zulum and soludo, and we can see how well they are doing at the moment, my dream is to make Abia the destination for agriculrure and farm produce and since Bende is known for Agriculture I will introduce mechanised farming and build modern rice mills in Bende, I will also construct good road network to make it possible for offtakers of farm produce to access agricultural products in Bende.

” Bende is the beautiful bride of Abia politics, Bende People are well known farmers all over the world, they are known for production of Rice, we will build a modern Rice factory in Bende, you have farm houses but we will give you modern farm houses, create access roads to your farm lands to enable you drive your cars to the farm, we will build Estates in Bende and create a modern Bende where a civil servant can go to work in umuahia from Bende and come back home safely”

Responding, the leader of PDP stake hoders in Bende Dr. Cosmos Ndukwe PhD, who also is a presidential aspirant under the PDP on behalf of Bende stake holders and delegates promised to support and give Prof. Ikonne their votes during the party primaries.

Prof. Ikonne, and his team later met with stakeholders of Bende PDP at the LGA headquarters where he was treated to a warm reception by the LGA led by the Deputy Chairman of the council Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, alongside other strong PDP stalwarts from Bende LGA
