Research institute students protest EFCC invasion of campus

0Shares

Students of the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan, Oyo State, staged a peaceful protest on Tuesday over an invasion of the campus by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The protesting students blocked all the roads leading to their campus, a situation that caused traffic jam on the popular Alesinloye by-pass and other adjoining routes.

The development also led to the disruption of academic and other activities on the campus.

An uncertain future for EFCC, ICPC
One of the students, who did not want her name in print, said, “One of our colleagues was hit by a stray bullet, though he did not die. We don’t know their mission on our campus, and we asked them, but instead of explaining to us, they started threatening us with their guns.”

As of press time, all efforts to get the Head of Public Affairs Department of the EFCC, Ibadan Zonal Command, Olumide Egbodofo, were not successful, as his mobile number was switched off.
