Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates at Manchester United celebrated when he informed the club he wants to leave this summer, ESPN reports.
With the transfer window set to close this Thursday, it is looking unlikely that the 37-year-old might get his wish.
Ronaldo’s 24 goals in all competitions last season were not enough to qualify United for the Champions League, a competition he desperately wants to continue playing in.
While fans are split on whether Ronaldo’s departure would be a positive thing for new manager Erik ten Hag, his teammates appear to have made their minds up.
The majority of the squad reacted with joy when it emerged in July that the legendary No.7 wanted to leave, as he’d become a “pain in the ***.”
Ten Hag has handed Ronaldo only one start this season and that was in the humiliating 4-0 drubbing at Brentford.
