The event held at Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia, Senator Austin Akobundu, the Senator of Abia Central Senatorial District at National Assembly received the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Centenary Leadership Award.

The occasion commemorated a century of political parties in Nigeria.

While presenting the award to Senator Akobundu, who was represented by the former commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Obinna Okey, the Committee Chairman, Dcn. Benjamin Arisa said the decision to confer the award stems from a meticulous assessment of Senator Akobundu’s impactful leadership from inception till date, highlighting his commendable contributions to democratic governance in Abia state.

In his words, he said, “This Prestigious Leadership Award as a Party leader is been conferred on you due to your unwavering dedication to democratic ideals. Also, this Council found you worthy following the result of a conscientious appraisal of your journey through party politics and have seen the resultant effect of your wisdom and sagacity in shaping the political landscape in Abia State.”

Responding, Senator Akobundu thanked members of IPAC, who are statutory chairmen of opposition political parties in the state, for the honor bestowed upon him, recognized his collective acknowledgment of the collaborative efforts that have defined his political journey.

He further reassured his commitment to sustaining a legacy of peace and good governance, saying “Your continued support has been instrumental in our collective strides towards a harmonious and progressive Abia State. I view this award not just as a recognition of my efforts but as a testament to share the vision we hold for the betterment of our dear state.” He concluded.

The Senator’s words carried the weight of his dedication to the people, emphasizing the responsibility that comes with the honor conferred by IPAC.

He reaffirmed his dedication to service and advancing to development agenda. He also placed a strong emphasis on the welfare of the people of Abia Central Senatorial District, stressing the urgency of delivering verifiable results that are guided by the principles of democracy and inclusion.
